What the checker tells you
Type an address in Dana Point and it answers that Dana Point is in our service area and that bag shipment is free: the address is south of the 55 and west of the 241. Type one in Anaheim and it answers that Anaheim is in our service area, but the address is north and west of the 55, so free bag shipment is not by our map; text us to confirm. An address in Riverside is outside Orange County, so it is outside our area, and bags are not available there.
The service-area answer comes from the city on the address record. The shipping answer comes from where the address sits against the freeways. Near either freeway the map can’t be certain, and the checker says so.

How the free-shipment check works
The rule on our bag page is “FREE bag shipment to customers located south of the 55 and west of the 241.” Available only in cities within Orange County, California. The checker turns that into a map test. The 55 runs from the 91 in Anaheim southwest to Costa Mesa, so “south of the 55” is read as its southeast side, which holds Irvine, Tustin and everything south. The 241 toll road runs from Rancho Santa Margarita north to the 91, and “west of the 241” is its west side. An address has to pass both tests and sit inside the Orange County line.
The 55 ends at the 91, so nothing north of that junction counts, and the lines are extended past their ends in the direction they were heading. The freeway lines are simplified centerlines, so an address within about a mile of one is marked as a close call. We confirm shipping when you order.

No. It is sent to the U.S. Census Bureau's public geocoder to find the point on the map, and we log only the city and ZIP of a lookup, never the street address.
